Family Group Decisionmaking & Conferencing in End-of-Life Care

Why Family Group Decisionmaking Matters in End-of-Life Care

Navigating end-of-life decisions often involves complex family dynamics, diverse perspectives, and emotionally charged conversations. Family Group Decisionmaking (FGDM), also known as Family Group Conferencing (FGC), offers a structured, inclusive approach that brings families together—alongside care professionals—to collaboratively address challenges, clarify values, and make care decisions that honor the wishes of the individual. By fostering open dialogue, shared understanding, and consensus, FGDM/FGC empowers families to navigate difficult moments with compassion and confidence. Our training equips professionals and families with the skills to facilitate these conferences, ensuring that every voice is heard and that care plans reflect the true needs and values of all involved.
